Matric and own transport is essential

Retail sales, hardware, paint or coatings experience is required.

Hardware and allied product industry experience beneficial.

Ability to operate within hardware store, industrial and end user environment.

Strong "new business development" ability is essential

Must reside within reasonable proximity (preferably East Rand area (Boksburg, Kemptonpark, Germiston, Alberton areas ).

Strong personality, high energy levels and self-driven.

Mature and responsible demeanour.

Fluent in Afrikaans and English.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team player.

Meet and exceed turnover and litre objectives.

Maximise Prolong product, line and channel penetration and sales in the retail market

Sell the company’s products through all suitable channels possible – specific focus on Prolong sales

Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales and financial targets and any additional targets which may be set by the company from time to time (new accounts, non-billing accounts, key products, call activity etc).

Develop sales action plans relating to product, brand, geographic area and sales channel in order to ensure that set targets are achieved and exceeded (as required).

Regular meetings and feedback to/from chain head offices with regards to stock holding, sales performance, issues etc (as required).

Build relationships with buyers, heads of departments and merchandisers

Regular inspection of merchandising, the condition of products, POS material and displays.

Maximize sales opportunities using seasonal and special promotions.

Proactively identify changes in the paint industry and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly.

Identify new sales opportunities and increase the number and depth of active accounts. Generate new business and rejuvenate lost business.

Upsell and cross sell products to maximize revenue.

Have a full understanding of customer needs and requirements.

Have a broad understanding of the customers industry and business.

Ensure that specific customer requirements are clearly communicated to the responsible company staff and fully understood at point of order.

Maintains sales volume, product mix, selling price and GP by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.

Ensure that the correct pricing is implemented at all customers and ensure the effective roll out of annual / periodic price increases to customers within their geographic area of responsibility.

Ensure that the pricing strategy and relevant price lists are fully understood and ensure that they are utilised appropriately.

Be an ambassador of the company’s brands and products.

Adhere to the internal sales processes and procedures and specified by the company.

Full understanding of the company’s systems and processes and the management of day-to-day activity relating to customer account

Ensure that company processes are understood and adhered to at all times.

Become the main day-to-day point of contact (primary contact point) between the customer and the company.

Take ownership of all customer problems and complaints, ensuring that they are effectively and efficiently handled and closed-off.

Ensure ethical, honest and professional business dealings with all customers.

Ensure sales productivity (call activity, closing rates etc) and efficiencies are maximized.

Regional travel with Gauteng required.

Establish productive, professional relationships with customers ensuring customer retention and customer satisfaction.

Assist in the development and delivery of product knowledge and technical training.

Handle all technical and customer queries effectively and efficiently.

Prevent competitor products from encroaching on market share within the geographic area.

Assist customers with technical advice and add value to their business through product and process knowledge and exemplary service.  

Call on customers according to the call scheduler / approved cycle.

Maintenance own CRM data.

Submit daily call reports and any additional reports as may be required.

Assist with any promotions and events as may be required from time to time.

Ensure that all tasks and activities are carried out effectively and efficiently, with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, professionalism.
