Head Of Risk And Compliance

Position with an award winning company who are market leaders in their field of expertise - award winners for their exceptional and groundbreaking software.

About the position:

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with the various financial institutions and Authorities and will be able to liaise and consult effortlessly with the regulators at the NCR, PASA, FICA, InfoReg and the FCSA. Be the point of contact for all contractual drafting and risk matters in the organisation.

Requirements:

  • RE5 and RE1, approved FSCA Key Individual with a LLB or BCOM with majors in Business and or Contractual Law.
  • Postgraduate and professional designations will be advantageous.
  • 8 - 10 years experience drafting of local and international policies in the payments solutions/financial technology/banking/financial solutions industry, managing SLA’s and contractual agreements.
  • 5 + years experience in managing a team and leading their professional growth inline with business objectives.
  • Specialist in NCR, PASA, FICA, InfoReg and FCSA regulators.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Regulatory liaison with relevant Regulators; namely, NCR, PASA, FICA, InfoReg and FCSA.
  • Co-ordinating with third-party partners such as banks for client vetting and onboarding.
  • AML/CFT lead, including but not limited to investigating and reporting SAR/STRs on the goAML platform and Sanctions/PEP screening.
  • A strong understanding of key industry legislation.
  • Working closely with department heads to identify risks and design policies and procedures to mitigate risks.
  • Testing of internal systems and controls through monitoring and audits.
  • Attending to all regulatory requests and preparation of periodic reports.
  • Oversight of website and marketing communication to ensure conformity to regulatory requirements.
  • Creating relevant content for training and awareness sessions for staff.
  • Regulatory environment scanning to advise Senior Management of upcoming regulatory changes that may impact the business.
  • Assume the roles of FICA MLRO and the POPIA Deputy Information Officer.
  • Management of the complaints handling framework in line with relevant legislation.
  • Take full ownership and responsibility of the company’s risk, compliance, drafting and reviewing legal contracts.
  • Manage a team of internal and external compliance officers and lead their professional growth inline with business objectives.
