Foundry Optimisation Engineer (automotive)

Duties:



  • Foundry related Scrap, Rework and First Time Pass rate measured against set targets in each Department.

  • Resources are utilised effectively and efficiently to achieve a reduction in Energy consumption.

  • Manage projects within the Foundry and Service Departments.

  • Conduct laboratory investigations with respect to material failures or defect analysis due to process faults.

  • Develop and sustain a mould library, including exploded model, general assembly, individual cores, and full cooling assembly including manufacturing drawings.


Requirements:



  • Tertiary education in the field of Mechanical and/or Metallurgical Engineering

  • Design experience and proficiency using project and design packages; MS projects, AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor

  • Tool-making or previous design exposure or experience with regards to 3D conceptualization and surface modeling using Magma software will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma concepts and techniques

  • At least 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Production / Manufacturing environment

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the Engineering sector after qualification with experience in machine manufacture installation and project management

  • Experience in Die Casting techniques, aluminum solidification, mould design and manufacturing of cast parts

  • Tool-making exposure, CNC knowledge including programming, design engineering or 2D/3D drawing
