Manufacturing Production Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will fulfil the necessary requirements within the Manufacturing Department to meet the objectives of maintaining maximum efficiency within production departments, products are assembled, packed, dispatched to warehouse.

Task progress monitor & intervention / recording; inspections; coaching; evaluations; follow-up on problems & develop solutions.

Mission is to support and develop the Lean Manufacturing culture within the organization.

Minimum requirements:

  • Trade tested (Preferably Electrical)
  • Minimum 2 years of Automotive Industrial Engineering experience
  • Must have experience in Mechanical Installation and Maintenance work on plant electrical systems and equipment.
  • Must have broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms. Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, design, and optimization of systems
  • Maintaining CO2 welding equipment and maintaining Robots
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and planning skills.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must have the ability to work in a Team environment, which includes being self motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events.
  • Required excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be willing to be on call 7 days a week and be available for ad hoc call outs.
  • Will require time to be spent on all 3 shifts to train necessary Production staff.

Key job functions:

 

  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements and production standards.
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status.
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures and activities.
  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.

    - Estimate production costs and effect of product design changes for management review, action and control.

  • Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.
  • Evaluate precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization of standards and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and promote efficient utilization.
  • Complete production reports, purchase requisitions and material, tool, and equipment list.
  • Lead and coach an analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Manage & Lead Kaizen team members, programmers when required/ assigned.
