Cost Accountant

6 Month contract 

Manufacturing company with a big footprint in Africa 

Purpose of the role:

Collect operational data and make analyses reports to forecast expenses and budgets. Collect production data, maintenance and inventory control data. Manage and coordinate annual physical counts and cycle counts

COST AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT – JOB DESCRIPTION

- Stock control and investigation of variances:

  • Daily cycle counts in formal stores and dispatch and Sossi Plant;
  • Monthly stock count;
  • Checks in pre-mix.
  • Control depot return and transfer sites.
  • Finished goods manufacture.
- Variance analysis:

  • Maintain daily Material Price Variance report;
  • Design variance analysis report for month-end management pack which incorporates all variances;
  • Analyse waste and scrap % together with production.
- Costing of products:

  • Provide quotes for customers;
  • Confirm that current standards are up to date before submitting quote.
- Bill of Materials:

  • Loading new saleable products onto MFGPRO;
  • Ensure that the new authorised BOM is issued to production; Incl substitution
  • Ensure that MFGPRO, Production and R&D BOMs are in line with each other every
  •  
- Standard costs:

  • Update standard costs monthly based on current months cost re local and
  • overseas suppliers;
  • Before updating current month standard costs, a copy of the standard costs must
  • be saved to the shared drive.
  • Roll-up the standard costs to the current BOM;
  • Roll-out the standard cost to the different stock locations and depots.
-Month-end:

  • Standard journals to be entered on the first day of the new month;
  • Fixed assets to be entered on first day of the new month;
  • Assist in finalising balance sheet recons;
  • Working Capital Analysis;
  • Tax queries re VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL.
  • Analysis of Income Statement Accounts
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Review income statement to confirm if all expenses have been processed;
  • Ensure all necessary accruals and/or provisions have been raised.
- Management reports/Monthly Reports:

  • Assist is preparation of Management Reports & Monthly Reports.
  • Year-end:
  • Liaise with auditors
    • Assist in finalising the balance sheet recons
    • Assist in finalising income statement and balance sheet
    • Load budget into MFGPRO.
 

- Ad-hoc projects and tasks.

  • Credit Note processing
  • Taxi Schedules etc
  • Maintaining Point of Sale (Prizes for customers, reps etc).
